Located in Hillsboro, Oregon and specializing in classic Fender amps. I provide expert service and maintenance for tweed, blackface, and silverface era amps. I also service many of the high quality modern Fenders like the Reissue series.
Why “Fender only?” For the same reason that auto mechanics sometimes specialize in a particular brand: Expertise and inventory. Rather than trying to be a jack of all trades, I focus on in-depth knowledge and experience with one brand. This means that I have the parts on-hand to fix your amp, and the experience and know-how to recognize fix the problems common to old Fenders (and the new ones too).
There’s generally a $50 bench fee for incoming amps, though this can sometimes be waived. The bench fee covers disassembly, cleaning, troubleshooting, and basic service. Anything that’s required beyond that will be discussed with the owner before work begins.
The Skipocratic Oath:
“First, do no harm.”
I’m a follower of the Skip Simmons philosophy of amp repair. This means respect for the vintage amps, treating people right, and no unnecessary repairs.
I clean, service, and repair the amps first, and only replace what needs to be replaced. I am always respectful of the history of these instruments and make all repairs with full appreciation of the heritage and the future value of the amp. My goal is to make your amp work the way that God and Leo Fender intended.
Pick up and delivery
I work out of my home. This saves on overhead costs and allows me to charge you less for my service. But without a brick and mortar store front, it can sometimes be easier and more convenient for me to come and pick the amp up from you. I offer pick-up and drop-off service at the standard mileage rate of $.65 per mile. But of course most folks prefer to drop off their amps. Just reach out and we’ll arrange a time.
